Another year, another tear - babies don't keep

birthday party dragon party kids party knight party motherhood parenting princess party village

Tonight I laid in bed and snuggled two little boys.  Their little bodies aren't so little anymore.  Full of energy and excitement rounding out the birthday party hangover we had today.  Elijah needed snuggles and his body is now half the size of mine.  Four years ago he was 2 lbs and barely bigger than my hand.  Woah, where did the time go?  Xavier was wiggly and giggly next to me, and he too is getting so big.  Yesterday we celebrated Elijah turning 4 and Xavier turning 3.  I had been so busy running around getting ready for this party that I barely had time to think about how big they are.  Tonight it finally kicked in.  Cue the tears...

We had a knight and princess theme.  I made swords, don't worry no one lost an eye.  My little guy turns everything into a sword any way so I figured we might as well have fun with it - and it turned out awesome!  Even all the little princesses in attendance were FIERCE with their swords.  It was so awesome to see.  Throwing parties is a ton of work, but going through the pictures from yesterday and seeing the looks on their faces - it just made my heart melt.  Most of the kids in attendance have been to our parties every year.  Right from Elijah's first!  This year was different.  This year the kids were BIG, they were friends.  There is nothing more amazing than watching our children form these bonds and friendships.  It wasn't just a celebration of our boys, and how much they have grown - but of all the kids.  Another year in the record books.  Time to slow down!
